What Medicine Really Is
At 3 a.m., a nurse hums to a sleeping baby. Across town, a family doctor writes a note to call a worried patient. In a lab, a researcher watches a thin line rise, the first hint a therapy might work. Different jobs, one calling. Medicine is a promise to notice pain, understand it, and act. Tests give numbers; your life gives them meaning. Quiet heroics like vaccines, checkups, and clean water save more lives than sirens. Cure is not always possible. Care is.
